it is close to midnight and i have a million things to do, a thousand worries and a dozen hopes and a lot has happened since the last installment of lila but there is time for that.

I waited all through 1968 for the earthquake that would sink California into the ocean, nothing. Excited about the comet Kahoutek all through 1973, nothing. I did not think Armageddon was coming in 1975 so I did not wait for it at all. I waited all through 1986 for Halley's Comet, big disappointment. I will be waiting all through 2012 so I can hear the screams of Art Bell's listeners when they realize nothing happens.

seeing this is the 5th anniversary of jwd, i was curious as to how many who still post here, were dyed in the wool jws, but later sucumbed to "the truth about the truth" .

were an active/semi-active jw, and this site and others were enough to convince you that your doubts had substance.

The Watchtower purposefully writes articles that give the IMPRESSION of allowing leeway to those outside the organization. Among their own it is VERY different. No deviation is tolerated.

Do you think the JWs are more extreme than the Mormons?

In 1978 I used to do street work in front of the Mormon Temple in St. George, Utah. I placed more magazines in Utah then when I lived in California, Montana or Texas.

While I was in Utah they had the "revelation" that blacks could achieve both Aaronic and Melchezidek priesthoods. A court in Oregon had ordered the head of the church to explain why blacks were left out and praise the Lord, a revelation settled the matter before the court date.

LDS is short for Latter Day Saints. The official name of the church is Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mormon is their nickname. The angel Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith and gave him golden plates. Moroni's father was named Mormon and the translation of the plates is called the Book of Mormon.

The Plain Truth was better written then the Watchtower. Armstrong had been a salesman and understood how to properly package his message. Armstrong was a wacko but he had flare and style.

Garner Ted Armstrong joined the Navy as an act of rebellion against his father. It may have been while in the navy that he was tatooed.

GTA's brother David was being groomed to succeed Herbert as leader of the church but died and GTA was drafted.

Herbert did admit that GTA was disfellowshipped for adultery. I do not have the material in my possesion now, but have read about this in Herberts' books or magazines. It has been so long ago I do not remember which.
